FAQ

No — it is postponed to 2027. Goalie Battles at the size we want to run it needs a special event permit. There is not enough time to get that permit approved for 2026, so we are moving the tournament to 2027 rather than running a smaller event. Nobody has been charged, and there is nothing you need to do. Keep practicing — the game, the rules and the format do not change, and the winter box league runs as planned. The new date will be announced on the Goalie Battles page first.

Box lacrosse is the indoor version of the game, played in a hockey rink without ice. Teams are typically 6-a-side (including the goalie), the ball is always in play off the boards, and the action never stops. The Greasy Ballers winter league plays 5v5, and our Goalie Battles tournament is a 1v1 showdown — more touches and more development per player either way.

For the Winter Box League, full box lacrosse gear is required: a CSA-approved helmet with a cage, lacrosse gloves, shoulder pads, arm pads, an athletic cup and a lacrosse stick. Goalies need goalie-specific equipment.

Goalie Battles is different — it is a tennis ball, not a lacrosse ball. Players bring: helmet with face mask, lacrosse gloves, lacrosse stick. We supply nets at every station and tennis balls. Divisions are determined by birth year. The Winter Box League (2026-27) runs U7, U9, U11, U13, U15 — covering players born 2013–2014 through 2021–2023. Goalie Battles runs 8 divisions — U7, U9, U11, U13, U15, U17, Junior, Adult— adding U17, Junior and Adult on top of the league's five, with 36 players max per division. Goalie Battles is our 1v1 tournament — a fast-paced showdown, not a team event. Score more goals than your opponent in five minutes. You shoot one at a time — you take your shot, they defend it, then the shot is theirs and you defend. Neither of you leaves your crease, and there are no teammates. 1v1 · 40 Feet · 5 Minutes · Tennis Ball · Stay In Your Crease · Most Goals Wins. Tied at five minutes? Next goal wins — first goal takes it. Your division splits into 6 groups of 6, so every player gets 5 guaranteed battles before the whole division seeds into an elimination bracket. Champions are crowned on the raised main stage. There are 12 battle stations (24 nets) running all day, a live announcer, and prizes for champions and finalists. All skill levels welcome.

The Winter Box League plays 5v5 box lacrosse: 15 games + 15 practices. Games are Sundays 1:00–8:00 PM and practices are Thursdays 5:00–9:00 PM, in the Durham Region. Divisions run across multiple pads, so exact division times are confirmed pre-season. Goalie Battles is postponed to 2027 and has no date yet; it stays a single day, all 8 divisions, when it runs. The final arena venue is to be confirmed — registered families will receive all location details well in advance.

Absolutely. Greasy Ballers is development-first — we welcome all skill levels. Whether your kid has never held a stick or is a seasoned player looking for winter reps, there's a place for them here. Our coaches focus on fundamentals, touches, and love of the game.

Winter Box League (U9–U15): $849 + HST/player for 5v5 box lacrosse. 15 games, 15 practices.
Winter Box League (U7): $500 + HST/player for 15 sessions, games and practices together, on Sundays 3:00 PM. Uniform included.
Goalie Battles (1v1): no fee is being taken — the tournament is postponed to 2027 and the entry fee will be confirmed with the new date.
The league price is per-player and shown before tax. Ontario HST of 13% is added at checkout, so a U9–U15 league spot totals $959.37 and a U7 spot $565.00. Payment is processed securely at registration.

If we cancel, you get a full refund. If we postpone, you choose between the new date and a full refund. If you need to withdraw, email us before the program starts and we will find a fair resolution.

If we cancel a program: If Greasy Ballers cancels a program before it begins, you receive a FULL refund of everything you paid, including HST. You do not need to ask, and there is no administration fee. We return it to the card used at registration, normally within 5 to 10 business days.If we postpone a program: If Greasy Ballers moves a program to a new date, you choose. You may keep your spot for the new date at no extra cost, or take a FULL refund, including HST. We will tell you the new date and give you a clear deadline to decide, and choosing a refund is never treated as a cancellation on your part.If we shorten a program after it has started: If we have to end a program early, we refund the portion that was not delivered, calculated pro rata on the sessions remaining, including the HST on that portion.The full policy, including injury withdrawal and sessions we cannot run, is on our Terms page.
