FAQ
Everything you need to know before you lace up.
What is box lacrosse?
Box lacrosse is the indoor version of the game, played in a hockey rink without ice. Teams are typically 6-a-side (including the goalie), the ball is always in play off the boards, and the action never stops. Greasy Ballers runs a 4v4 format — smaller sides, more touches, more development per player.
What equipment does my player need?
Full box lacrosse gear is required: a CSA-approved helmet with cage, lacrosse gloves, shoulder pads, arm pads, a lacrosse stick, and athletic cup. Goalies need goalie-specific equipment. If you're unsure what to get, email us at hello@greasyballers.com — we're happy to point you in the right direction.
What are the age divisions?
Divisions are determined by birth year. The Winter Box League (2026-27) runs U7, U9, U11, U13, U15 — covering players born 2013–2014 through 2021–2023. The 4v4 Tournament expands to include Junior and Adult divisions as well. See the League and Tournament pages for full details.
When and where are games?
The Winter Box League runs 15 weeks of games. Sundays, Nov 1 2026 – Mar 3 2027. Games are played on Sundays in the Durham Region. The final arena venue is to be confirmed — registered families will receive all location details well in advance of the season start.
